DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, who had made education reform a major pillar of his administration, was ousted Tuesday. He lost with only 19 percent of the black vote. Michael Lomax of The Root argues that the black community was trying to send a message to Fenty, that school reform was too disruptive and was happening too fast.
